As I'm a big fan of the Double Ligero 'Digger', my shopkeeper strongly recommended the 'L-Granu'. Taking it from an impressive 100 count box, the cigar looked indeed absolutely great.
The LFD Ligero L-Granu is with 6 x 64 a massive ciger, by all means, nevertheless being two inch shorter compared to the DL, but a few ring gauges larger. The wrapper is dark, but slightly less dark than the DL. As the DL is one of my highest rating cigars, I had high expectations of this one.
The 'digger' usually takes me usually aobut 4 hours to smoke, and I expected at least 2.5 hours from this one, so I had it rest in my humidor until a first sunny, summer-like opportunitie, so I could enjoy it in the garden.
From the first puff, I was welcomed with some great notes: Some Leather and Oak, but especially Moka, and a Milky Chocolate aftertaste. From the second half, some pleasant Peppery notes join in. The draw was perfect, but the cigar needed several corrections - not sure it was due the weather, not resting long enough in my humidor, or construction.
Lasting a full 3 hours, I enjoyed every minute of it. It lost a few points due some small burning issues, but I'll definitely smoke more of these. Additional smoking sessions will without a doubt correct the current score even more positively.
